Artist Irene Simmons is the designer of an art installation featuring 450 crosses and dresses entitled “Re-Dressing Injustice,” that commemorates the murdered women of Juárez and Chihuahua City . As a preliminary event to the J.Paul Taylor Social Justice Symposium, she came to Las Cruces to worked with over 150 community members to create additional dresses for an art installation. This exhibit will be open the Symposium on March 29th. The dresses created will become part of a traveling exhibit. A few of the dresses created will be auctioned off to raise money for a local non-profit.
