FEMICIDES

CASE 1 – January 1st – Top level student and employed, she was a young woman killed with eleven stab wounds as well as sexually violated, found in the afternoon of January 1 st , 2008, inside a dwelling where she lived with her uncles. JOHANA RADILLA SÁNCHEZ, 20 years old, received three stab wounds in the neck and eight more in the back. Johana was originally from the state of Guerrero and lived for eight years in Juarez, she was in her third semester studying to be an engineer at the Industrial Technical Institute in Juarez and worked as a sales clerk in an auto parts store. The night of the killing Johanan returned from a party in a house at Grosella and Morelia street, in colonia Erendia, where she was alone since her uncles were on vacation in Chicago and her parents were in their house in Zihuatenejo. The official report indicates she died of the stab wounds she received to her neck which were 8 centimeters deep.

CASE 2. January 7th – A woman's skeleton was found. The Judicial police announced that the skeleton found in the Valle de Juárez in Loma Blanca, was that of a women. Until now the time of death or age has not been determined. UNIDENTIFIED.

CASE 3. January 17th – A woman identified as GUADALUPE ESPARZA, 35 years old was murdered. Her 12 year old daughter believed that she was sleeping and then became aware that she had been killed. She stated that she heard her mother and her boyfriend arguing and afterwards the man left carrying various articles of clothing and left in his car. A local TV station reported that she worked at a TV station and at a newspaper. No further news of this sad occurrence.

CASE 4. January 20 – Brutally assasinated, a 10 year old girl, died. The young child was found alone in her house in Paraje de San Juan . MIRNA YERENIA MUÑOS LEDO MARIN was the name of the young girl. Her body was completely nude. She received 4 puncture wounds. She was found with a bag of condoms. The authorities do not know if she was raped.

CASE 5. January 21st. - ERIKA SONORA TREJO. A woman approximately 34 weeks pregnant was murdered with an axe by her father in law who later turned himself in to the police. Erika Sonora Trejo, 31 years old who was going to give birth in 15 days was murdered in the presence of her two children, aged 11 and 6. The baby also died.

CASE 6. February 2nd. A woman was found in the interior of her house. She was on the ground, her head covered with a blanket. It appears that she was killed with a gun. She has not been identified. It is noted that she has two daughters who live with her mother in law. She lived alone. February 5th. The woman was identified. Her name was CRUZ DANIELA OZAETA GARCIA 26 years old.

CASE 7. February 5th. - MARÍA MARGARITA BUSTILLOS, 42 years old was assassinated in from of her daughter with a knife to the head while she was in a grocery store in colonia Heroes of the Revolution. The daughter of the victim was also wounded. Named as guilty was her ex boyfriend who was detained at 5 in the morning on the 6 th and identified as Ismael Carrasco Sanchez.

CASE 8. February 8th. A dead woman was found in her house. A professional and a housewife, named MIRTA IVONE ESTRADA OLIVAS was killed with a firearm in the interior of her house in colonia Juarez Nuevo. Her body was found by her husband Osvaldo Calderon. The woman was 30 years old and was a public accountant. Her body had numerous puncture wounds in the abdomen, arms and other parts of her body, stated authorities

CASE 9. February 9th. - MARIA GUADALUPE LIZCANO RAMIREZ, 45 years old was found dead inside a vechicle in the colonia Km 20. Until now no one has been determined responsible for the crime.

CASE 10. March 10th. - ROSA LOPEZ MORENO, 48 years old was found outside a laundromat in the area Villa Colonial. Rosa Lopez perished due to a deep bruise to the thorax although also lacerations of the liver and kidney were present. Until now the presumed guilty party is her partner Catalino Mendez Ramirex. The investigations continue.

CASE 11. March 15th. – UNIDENTIFIED. A woman was found dead in the freeway Camino Real. Informants indicate that she was hurled from a moving automobile. She was described as being between 30 and 35 years old, robust with red tinted hair. She was dressed in blended pants, a pink blouse and grey tennis shoes.

CASE 12. March 19th . - CAROLINA EVELYN VEGA CECEÑA. Was assassinated in her house located in Hacienda de los Potreros when an indivual knocked on the door of her home and when she opened it, shot her point blank 3 times. Her body was taken to Los Mochis where she was interred. She was 35 years old and left orphaned a 6 year old girl and another 4 year old.

CASE 13. March 21st. Massacre in the Hotel del Rio, Room Number 49 in which 95 bullet shells were found. Sunday 23 rd . The name of the victim was AMERICA DAYANARA MALDONDADO IÑIGUEZ, 27 years old. Her body was found in the bathroom of the hotel with many bullets in her neck. She was identified by her family.

CASE 14. April 1st. UNIDENTIFIED. The body of a woman was found in an unpopulated area in the southwest of the city. The victim, whose identity is unknown, was dressed in a white, short sleeved blouse, blue pants, a black belt and white tennis shoes. The prosecutor has not given official data due to the fact that the time of death is unknown. Although the face and the arms were found with the flesh missing while other parts of the body were intact. April 4 th (El Diario) The prosecutor announced the cause of death as bullet wounds to the thorax and neck. The identity of the woman remains unknown.

CASE 15. April 20th – A teacher was shot to death en the Valle de Juarez, when she was traveling in the company of her son who was also injured and a man that disappeared, according to the state authorities. The victim was identified as AGLAE AMAYA NÚÑEZ. The body of the victim was taken to the morugue for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. “The data from the investigation indicate that at the time of the shooting, there was a minor and a male in the interior of the vehicle” stated the state prosecutor. According to witnesses, the automobile was driven by the husband of the murdered woman, who has not been identified. Upon hearing the shots behind him, the witness stopped to help the victim. Never the less, the man was deprived of his freedom by armed commandos traveling in two recent model trucks. They left behind the 3 year old boy according to neighbors. The municipal authorities rescued the child and gave him to family members who immediately took him to the international bridge to deliver him to Fabens, TX where the mother of the victim lives. Aglae Amaya Núñez was one of the founders and educators of the College of Bachilleres that is located in Guadalupe, Bravos district according to staff at the school.

CASE 16. May 2nd. UNKNOWN. A dessicated body was found in the Valle de Juarez, having been dead at least a month but until now the cause of death is unknown. The body was found in the heights of Camp Tiro in the area of Praxedis G. Guerro. The woman was taken to the temporary morgue at the University Autonomous of Juarez for an autopsy. The victim was wearing blue jeans, a blue and white blouse, a blouse with white and red stripes, a pair of black shoes without a brand name, stated the state agency. According to unofficial versions, the woman was semi-nude and her body had been partially devoured by animals.

CASE 17. May 6th. BERENICE GARCIA CORRAL. The victim was a policewoman for the Public Ministry for the last 7 years and was currently assigned to the Special Unit on Crimes Against Family, Liberty and Sexual Security of the State Investigative Agency in the Northern Region. She was 31 years old. She was executed last night at her residence by a command squad of organized crime who fired point blank with AK 47's. According to information, she received 31 gunshot wounds. She is the 15th member of police agencies to be assasinated this year.
